(reply) Problem installing Lexmark Printer

Just got a new Lexmark all-in-one (x6170) yesterday and using win98se.
Had similar copying files error during install.

Many thanks to poster, found solution for here. Using Microsoft
article 192926 referenced below. This can be simply done though. Go
to Start, Run, type misconfig. On the General Tab, Select Selective
Startup (if not already selected), then only unckeck Process
Config.sys file. Click OK, restart when prompted. Install Lexmark
software, this time no copying files error. Important, do not recheck
Process Config.sys file change after printer install complete setup.
BTW Config.sys is an old Win3.1 file which Microsft included in next
two Windows versions, but has no functiion in Win98

I am running Windows 98 on my PC and tried to install a
Lexmark printer with the installation CD provided by
Lexmark. Everything loads snoothly until I receive an
error message telling me that there was a problem copying
the "lxblpm9x.dll" file and the installation abruptly
ends.
I would appreciate any help on this...thanks

Clean booting will generally allow you to get through the installation
successfully.

msconfig, select selective startup(already selected), Process config.sys

You're installing the printer? Are you installing from the CD? If so, try
copying the entire contents of the CD to a new folder on your hard drive,
then run the installation from there.

I don't understand your reference to Config.sys. What recommendations are
you following there? If background programs are the problem you're trying to
get rid of, you should review my article
