Default Win98, IE and OE Problem

Hi All,
Stange problem in that I can't raise any Web page, get the Can't find or out
of service error page. I also can't view any HTML emails in Outlook Express.
I think the problem is tied together.
Seems there's a simple fix to this but I'm missing it.
Thanks
D

Default Win98, IE and OE Problem

An update to this, after a reboot, I will be able to download a Web page,
but trying to go to another one brings up the error.
It's almost as if I have an IP address at first and then it goes away. Hmm.
That makes sense until I remember that I can still get regular emails.
Ideas?

you may have spyware
Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

also run the LSPFix from here

Thanks Noel,
I got a new AdAware and ran it. It found one suspicious thing, but problem
still persists.
I tried to go to LSPFix, but couldn't even load one Web page after reboot
this time. I'll try again.
Thanks again.

Sorry PA Bear. Can't. I can get into one or two pages and then I can't pull
up any more. Like I say, it's like my IP is revoked or my DNS server quits
working. Like I say, weird.
I run winipcfg and release/renew my IP address, but that doesn't restore my
web access.
The only thing I've found that works so far is to reboot. Then the same
thing, only get to one or two web pages and it stops finding them.

Default Win98, IE and OE Problem

One other thing I noticed that may have bearing on this problem. I tried to
uninstall IE6 with the thought that I could reinstall it and fix any bad
files. (This is suggested in the IE6 Help under 'Repair IE6'). I could not
uninstall due to a little box coming up that said 'Invalid INF file'
Thank you all.

Do you have a firewall installed? Particularly, do you have Zone Alarm firewall
installed? If so, uninstall it via Add\Remove Programs.
