You could try (re)installing WMP9.

I downloaded Windows Media Player 7.1 after I posted my
message, and now WMP is working just fine.

However, I am still getting the error message regarding
AVICAP32.DLL.

Any idea why?

Nope, but if there's something wrong with the file itself, you can
extract a new copy.

Start/Run/msconfig.exe/Extract(button)

Enter the filename, then browse around for C:\Windows\Options\CABS or
C:\Windows\Install\CABS directory and click on Cab 10.

It should be extracted to C:\Windows\System

I did that, and it still didn't work. I restarted after I
extracted and replaced the file. The error starting
message still came up.

I have given up and am going to restore my computer next
week. There are several other program files that aren't
working properly right now so I must have had a virus in
my computer. I did catch them and deleted them, but I
guess the damage was done. Oh well...

Thanks Rick I appreciate your help.
