tilde (~) corrupting files/new contact address book

Default tilde (~) corrupting files/new contact address book

whenever i put a new contact in my address book I get
microsoft desktop icon with a tilde (~) beneath it. Then
the tilde gets into my registry or win.ini files.

Anyone have the same problem or a fix for it?

Not to worry. It is a problem that M$ knows about. It is safe to delete.
