Not in this newsgroup, no. But you *will* see lots like this in the XP
groups and even in the main Win98 NG:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...gen_discussion

As I said, though, your primary issue is setting up XP networking, and this
is not the place for that.

What is the safest way to setup my 98SE machince to see a folder on my

I didn't seem to have a problemn setting up my old 98 machine like this
but XP machine seems to be a bit more difficult.

I have been through the network setup quite a bit but can't seem to
make it work .

Yes, but according to your original post, you have yet to decently set up
Windows XP networking. Is that not true?

Again, a Windows XP Networking NG is the place for this question. They not
only know how to properly set up the XP Networking, they also have plenty of
experience configuring Win9x machines to share a workgroup with XP.

We occasionally see a similar question in the Win98 groups, but in those
cases, XP networking has usually already been set up properly. Believe me,
the fact that it's an XP box that you're trying to connect to makes all the
difference in the world. Hard enough just to get two XP machines to play
well together over a shared router/internet gateway network sometimes.

You're missing my point. It's not that there are no knowledgeable people here, it's that you'll get BETTER advice by starting in the XP Networking groups. I could walk you through setting up a network connection in Win98, but it's only got a fair chance of solving your problems, and *only* if your XP system is set up properly. The people in the XP networking groups know *much* more than I do about XP network setup--they do it all the time and know all about the myriad things that can trip you up in a modern household network with router, DSL or Cable modem, etc. I'd be derelict in my responsibilities if I didn't recommend what I've recommended.

Why to you take such offence when I'm providing the best advice I can? You would have preferred NO answer?
