Default Error WMPDXM.DLL in Explorer

Every time I try to open Explorer, My shared Folder,
Control Panel or anything related to Explorer, I get an
error message: "Explorer has cause an error in WMPDXM.DLL"
and crashes.

This problem seems to be the result of a damaged Windows Media Player 9
install and using Windows Explorer's web view rather than classic view. So,
as a first suggestion, try reinstalling WMP9.

Zachd from Microsoft recently posted in the windowsme.multimedia newsgroup the
following reply to a poster experiencing similar problems to those you are
seeing.
"Hm. Do you get the chance to send a crash report? If so, there may be a
crash bucket number that it might be possible to use to glean further
information here...

This could only really happen if the multimedia view was being at least
initiated (if not displayed) for those folders. Obviously, you should be able
to get rid of this error by turning off the Web View and switching back to
Classic View for your folders. Alternatively and not recommended, you can run
"regsvr32 c:\windows\system\msdxm.ocx", which will put WMP6 (not WMP9) back in
charge of shell folder multimedia preview. You can run "regsvr32
c:\windows\system\wmpdxm.dll" to undo that."

Thank's Mike !!!
Well I tell you what's happen'd.
First I tried to run the line "Explorer.exe" and it
worked. I could reach every file in My computer, but all
links on Desktop or 'Control Panel' still didn't work and
still crashed (???).
Then I tried to re-install WMP9 and even make an install
of a certain file due to a problem with 'system restore'
and 'checkpoints'. That didn't solve the problem!!! I'd
tried to open 'My computer' and it crashes again. To your
question: no reports appears. After the error message, I
click OK and Explorer crashes taking\closing with him some
startups programs.
However I did run the line you gave me ("regsvr32
c:\windows\system\msdxm.ocx") advising me that it wasn't
recomended, but in my case it did help. I've already
opened all Explorer windows and it's OK now, evrything
works. But note: I checked WMP and its version is still
9.0 (???). It doesn't bother me.
A question: How I change From 'WebView' to 'ClassicView'??
Than's again Mike

Ikra,

A question: How I change From 'WebView' to 'ClassicView'??

Control Panel | Folder Options and then on the General tab
Web View - "Use Windows Classic folders"
Personally I also disable Active Desktop by checking "Use Windows classic
desktop".

BTW I know little about the problem you were having however I have seen it
posted here quite often over the last year or so. As you probably saw most of
my response was a reply I saw posted by Zach Robinson from Microsoft who
although a WMP developer has himself yet to see the error either! One reason
why I've never seen this error is quite possibly due to my always having used
classic folders and classic desktop.

Regards,
