Poor man's tab browsing with IE6
I've tried several IE based browsers with tabbed browsing and for various
reasons haven't liked them. I have been using what I call a poor man's tabbed IE6 browsing by opening multiple windows that I can selectively open from the bottom of the main page. This works fine except it takes a long time to set it up after each re-boot. My question: Is there a way that I can open a list of several web sites at boot? I know I can open any number of programs by just adding them to my start menu but I haven't found a way to open specific web sites at boot time. Am I missing something simple here or is this not possible with IE6? Thanks in advance |

Make a new folder in your Favorites called Startup. Go to each site and make
a Favorite that's deposited in the new folder. Open Windows Explorer. Go to C:\Windows\Favorites\Startup. *COPY* the files from there to C:\Windows\Start\Programs\Startup. -- Gary S. Poor man's tab browsing with IE6
Gary,
I just finished making the changes you suggested and it works like a charm. I now have and old 98se, 300MHz machine with an IE6 tabbed browser! The only negative is a fairly long boot-up time but that was true of the Maxthon and Firefox browsers that I tried when opening with 5-6 active tabs. "Gary S. Terhune" none wrote in message ... Poor man's tab browsing with IE6
AB, I tried AVANT and liked it better than Maxthon or Firefox but still
haven't really found any that I like better than IE6 (with tabs). I'm just so comfortable with it, having progressed through IE4, IE5, and IE5.5 over some 9-10 years. Also, I've never had a security problem with any version of IE as I use lots of protection. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "AlmostBob" wrote in message ... (1) Open IE, & click the Favorites button. Favorites should open in left pane of IE. (2) Click the Organize button. An Organize Favorites requestor will appear. Now, you can add favorites & create a folder to move them into. (3) Click the individual sites in the folder. The requestor will change to show a "Make available offline" box. (4) Check the "Make available offline" box for each site you want to synchronize. A Properties button also will appear. Now, when you choose Synchronize from the IE Tools menu, you will see each site get downloaded in turn! Using the Properties button that appeared at step 4, you can even have the Task Scheduler synchonize them on a schedule. | Thanks in advance You are welcome. -- Thanks or Good Luck, There may be humor in this post, and, Naturally, you will not sue, Should things get worse after this, PCR |

Poor man's tab browsing with IE6

I tried the synchronization approach you suggested. It works as far as sync-ing the web sites but I'm not sure what that does for me. My goal (achieved with the help of Gary) was to have selected sites automatically open on boot-up and your approach doesn't seem do that, at least as far as I can determine. I'm not even sure what synchronizing a web site actually accomplishes. Enlighten me. ========================================== "PCR" wrote in message ... bobster wrote: | I've tried several IE based browsers with tabbed browsing and for | various reasons haven't liked them.
