how to install windows on new HDD

HELP!!!!!

i have recently purchased a new cd+rw drive , a new HDD
and a windows 98 cd and i was wondering how to install
Windows 98 onto the new HDD

1. Turn on the PC
2. Insert the Windows CD

If brought to a command prompt (e.g. A:), type:

d:\setup

where d is your cdrom drive

Otherwise, you should see Windows setup start immediately........

Since you have a new HDD, it is formatted (sectors,
tracks, etc.) but it has no software on it; thus you
require a boot disk to get started. The boot disk must
contain your CD ROM code in order to find-and-read the
Win98SE setup.exe file. I know of no Win98SE (I hope you
got the Second Edition version!) which includes a Boot
Disk. Copy the name and model number of your CD Drive,
take it to the person who sold you the HDD and the Win98SE
CD and ask for a compatible Boot Disk. A shorter
explanation is not possible. Best Wishes. Hank

If you have a running computer that will boot to windows you can do the
following:

1. Insert the Windows98 CD in the CD drive.
2 Navigate to W98 CD: tools/mtsutil/fat32ebd and run the fat32ebd fil. It
will create a floppy disk you need.
3. After having installed the new hardware, boot the floppy and partition
and format the new harddrive.
4. insert the win98 disk and at the a: prompt type in the drive letter on
the CDROM drive (CDROM:\win98\setup)
5 Follow insrtructions.
