Freecell Problem
I am working on my sister-in-law's computer and she has a problem I can't
figure out. When you go to FreeCell there are no cards visible. All other games like solitaire work fine. I have tried running: scandisk,...sfc,....AdAware,....and Norton Anti-Virus. I have tried to disable Norton,...delete and re-install the game via the win98 Cd,...and even reinstalled win98 and installed all MS updates, but I still have the same problem. I am running Win98Se with 64 mgs ram on an AMD-K6 3D processor. What can we do next? Johnny |

Lora
Not sure if I understood correctly. When you select FREECELL, it comes up empty in a green screen with a couple of options to select; either Games or Help. You must select Games and then select New Game. Then the cards are dealt. If you are saying there are no cards dealt, then you may have to reload the games. Go to; Start/Settings/Add Remove and then select WINDOWS SETUP. Highlight ACCESSORIES and click on the DETAILS button. Remove the checkmark in the box next to GAMES. I believe you must then reboot. Follow the exact same procedure, except re-insert a checkmark in the GAMES box. You may need your CD at this point. I'm not sure if you must reboot again for it to take effect. Hope this is helpful "Lora Miller" wrote in message ... I am working on my sister-in-law's computer and she has a problem I can't figure out. When you go to FreeCell there are no cards visible. Dapper,
You pretty well got it, because I have only a green screen and no cards are dealt. I tried your suggestions before though, and it doesn't fix it. Johnny "Dapper Dan" wrote in message ... Freecell Problem
Dan,
I DO have GAME and HELP in the top left corner. Pushing Help works, but doesn't give any info about this problem. When I push Game then choose "New Game" it blinks and sometimes I get the little king symbol in the upper left corner and sometimes I get two or four cards stacked on top of each other down in the bottom left corner. Pushing any other thing under Game just freezes everything. Johnny "Dapper Dan" wrote in message ... You don't have GAME and HELP listed on the top left corner of the green screen??? Freecell Problem
Sorry but the only way I can think of to fix this problem would be to
uninstall and then reinstall the games as indicated in my first posting. However you indicated that you tried that, but to no avail. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along and offer help. If not, I'm wondering if these games are part of IE, and if they are, whether doing a "repair" of I.E. would solve the problem ? (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove. Highlight your version of I.E. and then click REMOVE but on the next screen click REPAIR). Good Luck "Lora Miller" wrote in message ... If you are unable to fix the problem and would like to play the game, you can DL a free shareware version which is much more attractive and is unaffected by windows. 130k ~~~~~~ RusCell95 is a solitaire game for Windows95+. It can be used as a replacement for Freecell which is included in standard Windows distribution. Minimum requirements: 800x600 hi-color (16 bit) or better screen mode. How to install: run Install_Ruscell.exe. How to uninstall: select Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. New in version 1.1: timed game. ~~~~~~~~ http://www.by-art.com/ruscell.htm BoB |

Freecell Problem
Here are some issues with Freecell, check them out.
Problems Running FreeCell And Solitaire with Office XP Installed http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=3D304402 To work around this problem, prevent Ctfmon.exe from running. For = information about how to prevent Ctfmon.exe from running, please see the = following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 282599 - OFFXP: What Is CTFMON and What Does It Do?: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;282599 Also see: Error: "FREECELL.EXE has caused a general protection fault in CARDS.DLL" = when running FreeCell after installing CleanSweep: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...ee5be87f85256= 90b0045c40c/2adbd7ff86bc1288852566cf00654c89?OpenDocument Here are some replies I found in past newsgroup posts: "I have now found out the problem for myself! It was to do with having Mcafee Virus Scan 6 installed and when this is running it causes a conflict with Freecell and Solitaire. Disable virus scan when playing and everything works fine!" "He had over 500 emails in his OE in-box and many 100's more saved in other mailboxes. These had a lot of big attachments like .JPG and .GIF files. He started cleaning out his = mailboxes and moving attachments off the HD to CD-R. After all this OE mailbox cleanup, FreeCell works!" "It was a piece of software sent by my ISP (Freeserve) to upgrade my account to AnyTime. If I press C/A/D and disable its ATdialler, FreeCell works." "Free Cell was locking up until, by reading a message on this Newsgroup. I turned off IMGICON.EXE on the Start Menu (Control/Alt/Delete). By instruction from Iomega, after trying updated download for the Iomega Zip drive, I did a search for IMGICON.EXE and deleted it.
