Error 0xC00D11BA (yes yet another one)
The following error occurs whenever I try to play sounds in media player
================================================== 0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may encounter this error message for one of the following reasons: Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again. Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem, see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's documentation. You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound device, and then try to play the file again. Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000 ================================================= System is running win98SE. WMP version is 9.00.00.3128, Audio card is CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device (I downloaded the latest drivers from MS on Sunday 30Jan05. Direct X version 9 was downloaded within past two weeks Have tried all the suggestions posted to this place and elsewhere to no avail. I suspect the problem lies much deeper than Media Player as there are similar problems with other applications. Some clues -- in Control PanelSounds Properties the Play & Stop buttons are greyed out even tho' sounds are set for events such as Start Windows, Critical Stop etc. -- Volume Control not in System Tray and I can't seem to get it in there. -- I did momentarily get the system to a state where I could get WPM, and the CD Player software from PMI, to play music CD's, I know not what I did to achieve this apparent breakthough. However after restarting system (for the zillionth time) music CD playing reverted to it's disfunctional state. Any help will be much appreciated !!! |

Hi !
I have the exact same problem, I tried everything, the only thing that works is, when you reinstall the soundcard drivers it will work for a unknown amount of time OR until you reboot. That's probably what you did, too, when you got it to work. Did you find any help or did you get up yet? Write me asap, so I can let you know if I maybe have some luck and find help. Rebecca |
