win 98 crash and wont load HELP HELP HELP
I tried to install win xp pro over win 98 but it didnt go
well anyway. someone told me to unistall xp reinstall 98 and then install xp. when i unistalled xp i got a blue screen that said "fatal error has occurred 0167:bff7bf18" Now windows doesnt load at all and this blue screen keeps comming up all the time. I see the win 98 logo and it seems to load but then it goes to this error. I tried booting from the cd to install win 98 again but all it says win 98 is installed already and it exits setup. is there anyway i can get 98 back or install another version of windows like xp or 2000 even if i lose everything. i have it all backed up. |

If your not worried about loss because as you say you have backups, =
start up with a boot disk, reformat and reinstall. Have you made sure your machines current hardware/drivers/software are = compatible with XP? Upgrading from Previous Versions of Windows http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p...ing/matrix.asp Never mind the XP Pro mentioning, the requirements for Home and Pro are = basically the same. System Requirements: Windows XP Professional System Requirements http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p...on/sysreqs.asp And to further the process, your hardware/software may not be up to date = for XP. You can check by using the upgrade advisor download indirectly = he http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/h...heckcompat.as= p or here directly http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/h...ng/advisor.asp However I would suggest, if you have a friend with an XP CD you can run = the advisor from it, the download is approx. 32MB. or check here by typing in the hardware you want to check: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/h...ing/compat.asp --=20 Brian A. Conflicts start where information lacks. http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "John" wrote in message = ...
