Default System restore problems

Please help. I ran a system restore and when the computer
restarted it did something to my NAV program. I attempted
to uninstall/reinstall without success. Now I get these 2
messages: "Error starting program: a required .DLL file
WINSPOOL.DRV was not found" and "RUNDLL: Error loading
powrprof.dll One of the library files needed to run this
application can't be found" I had Norton Internet Security
2004 installed from a download form the Symantec site. Any
help is appreciated

You have unfortunately demonstrated once again that NAV and NIS, like most
other products from Symantec, are incompatible with Win Me (and in truth any
recent Microsoft operating system) and Symantec are guilty of
misrepresentation by claiming otherwise. Not, of course, that Symantec are
interested in the users of their products just that you pay them for their
malware. I don't understand though how using system restore will have lost
you winspool.drv and powerprof.dll however that using system restore cripples
NAV is well known and due to the incompetence of Symantec's so-called
programmers.

So how to proceed? First dump all products from Symantec and then replace any
missing files with fresh new copies from the Win Me cab set. What follows
explains how to replace winspool.drv.

Winspool.drv is contained in WIN_16.CAB of the Win Me cab set and can be
replaced by booting to Safe Mode and using MSConfig | General | Extract File
and following the prompts. The "cab" files are in the Win9x folder on the Win
Me CD and normally also in either Windows\Options\Cabs or
Windows\Options\Install. See MS KB 265371 - "How to Extract and Replace a
Protected File in Windows Me" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=265371) for
details of how to extract files from the cab set.

Winspool.drv belongs in the windows\system folder.

Use a similar procedure to replace any other missing file.

Did you read KB 265371? It explains precisely how to replace a file protected
by Win Me's System File Protection.
