Acrobat 6 and Unicows.dll
I have Win98 and I am trying to upgrade from Acrobat reader 5 to version 6.
I need this to use the PDF forms the IRS has on their web site (Acrobat 5 cannot save info added to forms). I downloaded Acrobat 6 and it seemed to install OK, but when I try to open it I get an error message that says: "Unable to load required component 'Unicows.dll.'" I tried unistalling and reinstalling version 6 to no avail. I see that unicows.dll (2002 version) is in the Acrobat reader folder, so I don't know what else to do here. I assume this is likely an Adobe problem, but there is no help on their site. Any help appreciated. Bob K. |

Adobe Acrobat is OS dependant, if you are running Win98 then you are stuck with Ver 5, if you have Win98SE then you can run Ver 6 See http://www.adobe.co.uk/products/acrobat/readstep2.html -- So long and thanks for all the fish. |

For anyone else having this problem, version 6.0 gave me the unicow.dll
missing error, and version 5.0 did not allow me to save the documents I worked on (IRS forms). However, I upgraded to 5.1 and this version DOES allow you to enter data and save the PDF file, so I have no need to upgrade to 6.0. "Bob K" wrote in message ...
