Default HP graphic driver update - Rundll32 caused an error

My ME HP Pavilion 9850, I noticed that the display resolution is a bit odd so
I tried to change it, Propertiessetting, but the value will not stick when
I changed from 600x to 800x (and reboot). So I decided to update the driver
from HP website.(Nvidia GeForce 2MX (HP) to 09-2001 version 14.61) After the
update, when I click setting, it basically hang there as it will not show the
dialog page where you can see the resolutions or it will give me this message
"Rundll32 caused an error in NvDisp.Drv and will now closed. Restart the pc"
However, restarting the pc does not resolve the issue. How can I resolve,
Thanks

Your Display Adapter driver is no longer being properly recognised, is
incorrectly set-up, or is more likely corrupted. Assuming the driver which
you just downloaded is the latest AND WinMe compatible, then - and this also
applies to your 'original' video driver - don't try to 'over-install' it,
always start afresh.

Boot into Safe Mode and in Device Manager, 'Remove' any/all Display Adapters
and Monitors and then re-boot. WinMe *should* re-detect (Plug&Play) your
video card and monitor and then should install the 'correct' drivers. You
may have to navigate the detection process to your new drivers.

If installing your 'new' driver still doesn't help (it may not be truly
WinMe compatible), you'll probably need to re-install the original WinMe
driver as supplied with your PC, but always 'Remove' the existing one first
in Safe Mode.

Remember, the screen resolution in Safe Mode is 640 x 480 (256 colours) and
can only be re-adjusted in Normal Mode.

HTH and good luck
