Default clearing TIME_WAIT - how?

Mike:

1. Noone ever proposed that noone else besides WinME users are welcome
here, I sure didn't.
2. Also didn't suggest the question to be inappropiate, merely to post in
the XP group too, since affiliation with WinXP was mentioned. What's wrong
with that?
3. How about giving Ogg a break with some pointers?

Harry.

Did you post the same in the WinXP NG, Ogg?
If not, maybe you should?

Harry,

So not only are those not running Win Me apparently unwelcome in these NGs
but also asking questions about Win Me are now also inappropriate. g So
what exactly do you think should be posting in these NGs and what should
the question be about? :-)

Note Ogg's network ICS host is running Win Me which by now I'm sure you
understand means he is running Windows Millennium. vbg

Dump the lozenges and don't even go near the nicotine gum!! I ended up
in Emergency after using that some 20 years ago. Raunches the
intestinal tract, it does.

I am using *Nicoderm* and no problems other than I now take it off when
I go to bed coz I was having nightmares with it on. Besides, I never
did smoke when I was asleep!!

Cheers....Heather

lol Yes I've got to get the patches, these lozenges are no good for
me they are making me feel quite ill and worse than actually smoking,
don't worry haven't smoked since Friday night.

LOL!! Did that and so far, so good. At Day 19 or so.....and no
major cravings. Go get the patch and join me.

Only one day of the *bitchies*. But that was Ron's fault, lol. He
spoke to me. Silly man!!

If you were to try reading this thread instead of getting all hot under
the collar you would see I have replied to Ogg.

lol Wouldn't even think about the gum, teeth and gum don't mix g
I'm phoning the doctor in the morning, as the help group put my
appointment back another week and can't put up with the lozenges that long
want to get the patches on prescription if possible.
It means a journey into town to get anything even the doctor and I'm not
going near the only shop we have in the village to get fags so got to do
something quick g

That reply came in on my machine right *after* I posted, Mike.
I apologize for that one, most humbly.

Joan & Heather,
this is to both of you *girls*, or should I say *ladies*:
I used to smoke at least a pack a day, until I decided it was detrimental to
my health, about twenty years ago.
No patches, no pills and no hypnotist, just simple self-determination, which
anyone can apply, app. you.
You have to find an *overwhelming* reason for yourself to quit.
In my case it was my health and that should hold true for most cases,
including yours, but that's where your determination comes in, to *stay
firm*.
Once you have done that, you put the last pack away and never touch another
*smoke*, which isn't to say 'the end of all temptation', because there will
be plenty for awhile.
Even in your dreams and, believe it or not, every now and then I still have
one of those, but less and less.
Think you can manage?

(Dr.) Harry.

Got the patches this morning from the doctor and feeling great g
He gave me a prescription for the Stage One strength and another for when
they are running out for the next stage.

Don't have to pay because I get free prescriptions, just sorting out
starting up a saving account so I can put some of what I would have spent
on ciggys into it, I'll have something to show for it then.

Fantastic, Joanie!! You will find they work ever so much better than
the lozenges (ugh) or the gum. And there is also Zyban to fall back on,
which is really Welbutrin, a Prozac derivative. I didn't want that but
Ron's doctor suggested it if I was going *snaky* with withdrawal. Not
about to do that.

You've got to chew it right, Figgs. Not like Wrigleys! :-) It's getting too
much of that deadly poison Nicotine that causes the problems! If nicotine,
in itself, buggered the intestinal tract taken orally, smoking would do it
too (esp. via pipe or cigar, but lots of cigs would - especially hand
rolled).

The point of the gum is it addresses the main reason for the addiction far
better than patches can, because the delivery is periodic, not continuous -
like with smoking. With patches you lose the rush and it's that loss that
leads to constant stress and ultimate failure. Otherwise you're really
addressing habits such as having something in your hand and sucking (God, I
hope 'Loom isn't reading this or we'll be straight back in the gutter!).

If you've been trying to quit for years it implies the form of your
addiction is specifically to the drug and - if you chew it as directed - the
gum is the most likely NRT to address the sudden, overpowering craving that
eventually wears you down.

The major problem with that is that I hate chewing gum and never
do...puts my "teeth on edge" as the saying goes.

ROFL!! Lollipops/suckers were considered.

addiction is specifically to the drug and - if you chew it as
directed - the gum is the most likely NRT to address the sudden,
overpowering craving that eventually wears you down.

The patch is working extremely well......no overpowering urges, just the
odd time I miss having a smoke. But that passes in seconds. As the
booklet said, the urge will pass in the same amount of time "whether you
smoke or ignore it"

The main thing is that one has to reach the point where they truly want
to quit....and I have. For many silly little reasons besides the health
aspect. Stinky house, etc. I intend to make it this time and Elayne is
laughing at me because my basic math was wrong....I have been smoking
for more than 50 years (not 40)...and I am as calm as can be. No
bitchies here, which amazes Ron.
