Default Data Base for saved Web Pages

Over time I have saved a few hundred Web pages. MS Internet Explorer
saves them as 2 different entities. One is a folder that seems to hold
the images and the other is a file, that when double clicked , will
bring up the web page in a browser.

I would like to find some software (freeware wouldn't hurt) that
permits me to import these pages and organize them in some meaningful
fashion.

Thanks

I'm sorry my querry was unclear.

I don't mean changing the file structure I mean organizing (grouping )
the pages in some sort of a data base. Currently all of these saved
web pages are in one huge file that I must hunt and peck through.

Some are related to Stocks, my son's education, soccer etc. etc. etc.I
I would like to organized them according to areas of interest.

Thanks again

um.... that is the meaningful manner. Either encapsulated HTML where are
the elements (formatting, texts, pictures) are in one file or with the
html file separate and then the rest of the elements (pictures, etc.) in
a folder.

If you mean ripping an entire website... I'm not sure how that would be
accomplished, though manually changing each html page such that say they
all use the same decoration .gifs or something is an option, albeit a
time-consuming one... not anywhere near the time it took to make the
original, obviously.

Some reference websites have their content available for download... all
the pointers line up in this case. Why not try contacting them, see what
they have to say about it.

Ahh...

Well if you ever wanted to learn html now would be a good time... you
can make an indexing webpage. Or if that's too much work (it is) you can
open a folder/subfolders on your Desktop and make shortcuts to the
relevant files where they are now. It's usable where it is and you can
drop it into the Start Menu and use it from there if you want.

I understand what you are saying. Html is way beyond me but I could
certainly create a structure of folders and sub-folders, however
their wouldn't be any search capability.

I found an interesting shareware program called iMiser 2.5 that
permits the importation of web pages from MSIE (live) but their
support people say that it can't handle previously Saved Pages.

Hard to believe that their isn't a DataBase program somewhere that
can't mamage these pages.

Thanks again

I believe that all the major search engines have provisions for using
them internally, though I have no clue how that works.

How u have saved different web pages in one file. I think u mean Folder, right?
Try save the files as .MHT format rather than .HTML. It will save only as one entity of web page -
NO annoying folders associated with a web page.

Now that u have saved hundreds of pages it will be time cosuming to organize them in different
folders. Do it if u can for your own convenience. Now your actual problem...
Download Crazy Browser from
http://www.corsac.net/cbsetup.exe OR MYIE from
http://www.aumha.org/downloads/myie.zip . They both include the option to manage web pages as groups
(freewares). Hope it will help.

hmm... doesn't IE allow for folders within Bookmarks? that might be the
simplest solution... Save your normal bookmarks and create a new
bookmark file with folders/subfolders to get to the stuff you need.
