Default Epson CD missing

I have an Epson CX5200, I re-installed windows, but don't
have the CD for my printer. How do I go about re-
installing my printer?

go to Epson's website and download drivers/utilities from there.

I tried that. My computer recognizes the printer as being
hooked up to LPT1 instead of the USB port. I tried
removing it from Device Manager, and allowing Windows to
pick it up, but that still didn't work.

The usual procedure for USB-connected printers is to DL the files (epson.com
has the files but you have to get the Twain drivers (for the scanner
functions), the printer driver and the status monitor; there are three
packages.); install the files before attaching the printer; only then attach
the printer to the computer.

So your Subject "Epson CD missing" has nothing to do with your problem
then... ?

Uninstall *all* printer references.

Read your "how to install the printer" instructions a few times (some
USB printers want you to install the software first before the printer's
hooked up), then install according to the instructions.

Rick,
I couldn't find the CD, so I tried to install it
using the drivers found on the Epson website. I removed
the USB printer hookup and restarted the computer. I
downloaded all three drivers, following the website
instructions:
"Note: After installing the Printer Driver download the
Twain Driver and install before plugging in the printer.
Then download and install Status Monitor."

I tried it every way I could think:
Install software, connect printer, turn printer on.

Install software, turn printer on, connect printer.

Install software, turn printer on, turn computer off,
connect printer, turn computer on.

Install software, turn computer off, connect printer, turn
computer on, turn printer on after everything loads.

I'm going crazy.

No guarantees. Remove any and all software for the printer. Restart the
machine, reinstall from start as instructed on the web site.

Shot in the dark... but if you're using the Epson TWAIN driver it might
be interfering with the Windows driver (could be why you have a
non-existent scanner on LPT1)...

ControlPanel/AddRemovePrograms/WindowsSetup/
Accessories/Imaging

Remove it if it's there... or maybe enable it if it isn't.

(at this point you gotta realize how much I know about USB and scanners)

If you're not using LPT1 at all you might disable it in the BIOS.

Install the printer driver and follow instructions. During the
installation the driver will ask you to switch the printer on,
connected via USB obviously.
If ythis is not done then the installation defaults to LPT1 as a
printer port.
Uninstall the printer from the printers dialog and remove from device
manager (all instances) then re-install following the instructions.

Remove it if it's there. Enable it if it isn't.

How? Removing is easy, how do you enable it?
