?soundcard installed, but no sound???

Hi,

here is a pc with win98se and epox ep-8kta3+ motherboard with via 686b
southbridge. I installed the driver and after reboot there is the soundcard
in the hardwaremanager. But no soundcard in the multimedia and so no
sound!!!
I tested the same with a pci soundcard....
whats wrong???

The same for me........can't help you and no answer from Microsoft Company!!!
What to do??? I don't know....buy a new sound card????

You probably need to install the correct driver for your sound card. Did
you get a driver disk with the PC (or sound card if bought separately)?

From the drivers download site for that mobo:

Via Hyperion 4-in-1 Drivers for basic motherboard hardware--may be a problem
here if you didn't install them. Install these drivers first.

For the Onboard AC '97 Audio, use the download provided he
http://epox.com/USA/article.asp?ID=1023

If you have a plug-in PCI audio card, you need to locate the drivers for
that from the manufacturer.
