Win-98 TCP/IP settings - multiple gateway entries allowed?
The gateway list box in the TCP/IP settings seems to allow the user to
add multiple entries, with no indication of what rules are applied to their use if multiple entries exist. Some ad-hoc experimentation seems to indicate that if even just two entries exist (one of them a known-good working gateway) that internet connectivity is not achieved unless the non-working entry is removed. Comments? |

Comments? Is the known good working gateway the one with the lower metric and it still doesn't work? I don't know how good win98 is at dead gateway detection but the theory is if the one with the lower metric is detected as dead (might take a minute or two) then the default gateway will switch to the one with the second lowest metric.
