hard disk drive not found
I have a Dell computer with Windows Me. It began going
crazy and finally shut down. When I turned it back on it ran in DOS mode and said "hard disk drive not found." I know this is not good. Can I reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything? Is that what I need to do? If so, how? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! |

Check to see if Dell has diagnostic software that can narrow down the
problem. But from the sound of it the hard drive has died and nothing you can do will fix it. -- Richard G. I am thinking a virus must have gotten it. Can I not
reformat my hard disk somehow and reload my programs? -----Original Message----- Check to see if Dell has diagnostic software that can narrow down the problem. What Noel said I said. :-)
Until you know if the hard drive is working or not there is absolutely NO SENSE WHATSOEVER in trying to reload anything at all. If the drive has failed the attempt will surely fail. If the drive has not failed, if the problem is something relatively simple, then reloading Windows is not necessary as there are much easier fixes. -- Richard G.
