Default My internet connection stops when I defrag a disk!

This is like saying " My car won't move when I chain it to a tree"
Defrag is reading all files and folder useing recent history ,as a guide,
to place data in the right place. Taking data fragments and placing them
where they go. And rewriting the disk as it goes. Taking data. Writing it to
the back of the drive. Placing fragments in their right spot and then taking
the data it wrote to the back and placing it back at the front in IT'S right
place. Setting everything in order as recently used.
I am surprised you even get a completed defrag if you are surfing the net
at the same time. Surfing the net is constantly changing the TIFs. Which
should cause defrag to prompt a message that it can't continue until what
every is accessing the drive is shut down.
Even a solitare game should cause defrag to stop.
While in defrag your whole harddrive,or partition that is being defraged,is
being used to read, write and rewrite the data there.
Running "System Monitor" during defrag should show a 100% usage.

I have this same problem in Win95, 98, 98SE

I connect using dialup, but if I try to do a defrag or move a large
amount of files from one folder to another the dialup connection stops.
When the defrag finishes, the connection resumes as normal.

It's obvious that the problem occurs whenever there is a lot of
continuous disk activity but does anyone know what causes this and is
there a workaround?

TIA
