Faulty Windows OS
I am with a laptop that doesn't boot up fully, rather it attempts to
re-install Windows XP. It gets to a point where it says insert XP CD...and click ok. When I click ok, it shows a dialog box with the letter 'y' repeating accross d input box, as if being typed or pressed on d keyboard. This happens even when the laptop keyboard is completely disconnected and removed from d computer. I tried booting from an XP installation CD, but it doesn't seem to show any response whatsoever to that and it doesn't give an error message about the CD drive either. I connected another keyboard to it, it responded to that keyboard (it doesn't respond to the original keyboard at all) but thesame problem still occurs. I have not been able to even re-install windows. |

It is not a Win98 problem -- so it is better to ask in the proper (WinXP)
newsgroup. And if you want to boot from CD -- select this option in BIOS Setup, or, when your computer tests BIOS, press the key that changes the boot sequence (what is this key -- see your computer's manual) and select CDROM there. -- Mikhail Zhilin MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) http://www.aha.ru/~mwz Sorry, no technical support by e-mail. Please reply to the newsgroups only. ====== On 5 Dec 2006 20:35:35 -0800, "bobox00" wrote: I am with a laptop that doesn't boot up fully, rather it attempts to re-install Windows XP.
