Font problem
I have encountered a font problem with my desktop computer. I have attempted
to install a group of Hebrew and Greek fonts that are used by the notes in a certain Bible software program. These fonts are also used in the notes in a Microsoft Word version of this Bible. I was able to install and use these fonts on my laptop computer, which also uses ME. I am able to see the Hebrew and Greek words displayed on the laptop, but not on the desk computer. The fonts are the usual TTF, provided by Galaxy Software. My desktop computer will not recognize them. |

Greek should be on the ME CD under multi-language support, I think Hebrew is only available as a download. -- "Time will bring to light whatever is hidden; it will cover up and conceal what is now shining in splendor." Also, I have two other Bible programs, both of which display the proper Greek/and or/Hebrew fonts. These use different fonts than used by the NET Bible I am attempting to display. I may have to contact Galaxy Software or the people that put out the NET Bible (this is normaly in an HTM/Help file format) at Bible.org to solve this problem. But thanks for your attempt to help. How many fonts do you have installed on your laptop compared with the number installed on your desktop? See KB131943 - "TrueType Font Limits in Windows 95/98/Me" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=131943). Whilst the KB states you might be able to install 1000 fonts a more realistic number is 600 - 700 due to the use of font names longer than 10 characters and the font table in the GDI being limited to 10K bytes. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP |

However, many of these I could just as well be without.---probably never use. |

I reinstalled Windows ME, and now my font problem is fixed. btw--- found that most of those fonts in the Windows\Fontds folder wer actually shortcuts pointing to Program Files\Common\Broderbund\Fonts. These were for The PrintShop, which was not working anyway. |

That's good news even though I feel that reinstalling Win Me was perhaps a
bit extreme. Nevertheless since you've solved your problem who cares. :-) BTW if you reinstalled Win Me over itself using the Win Me CD the original versions of many files to be reinstalled.I would strongly recommend that you to download and use the Belarc Advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) which will help you in identifying which critical updates and other patches need to be reinstalled. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Bill Leed wrote: THE PROBLEM IS FIXED!
