Default C:\temp folder?

What's the story on the C:\temp folder? It has gotten quite large. What is
it good for?

Windows deletes its "Temporary files" (in the C:\Windows\TEMP folder, I
presume) when I use its Disk Cleanup (TUNEUP.EXE) feature, but doesn't seem
to touch C:\temp.

Thanks for any insight.

Thomas

The temp folder can be located in a number of different places. Do Start /
Run / Sysedit and look in AUTOEXEC.BAT. There may be lines of SET TMP= and
SET TEMP=. If one or both don't exist, then don't worry about them. If they
are there, then they should be the same. Change them to the temp folder you
want to use (if necessary) such as C:\Windows\Temp. The simplest way to
deal with C:\TEMP is to change the folder name and see if anything complains
about missing files. If the name change hasn't caused a problem after a week
or so of using the system, delete the folder.
