Boot with a W98 start up floppy in the drive to test if the floppy drive has
failed--I think it has as the message appears to be one from the BIOS. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Terry" wrote in message ... First check to make sure the floppies connectors are properly seated.
If no joy, test the floppy drive and cable in another machine. Connect the FD in test machine and use the cable from the test machine, if it doesn't work the FD's gone South. If it does work, switch the known good cable with the suspect cable, if it doesn't work the cables gone South. If it does work, then the I/O controller on the suspect machine may be bad or the BIOS may be corrupted. Check the BIOS to see if the FD is the correct type/size. Check that only one FD is present in the BIOS as it may be looking for a FD that isn't there. -- Brian A. OK now!!!........no warning about floppy disk.
Floppy drive was ok, but all I did was alter the boot sequence to C, A, from A, C. If it was anything else I am unaware. Thanks. |

: OK now!!!........no warning about floppy disk. That's because it is no longer looking for it at bootup since it is booting from your hard drive. Can you access the drive from within Windows now? -- --- I haven't lost my mind. It's backed up on disk somewhere. --- |
