icon label font size too small
Win 98SE
Since attempting to install a foreign language (Bulgarian - therefore using foreign fonts etc) dictionary program yesterday, (since uninstalled via Control Panel) some of my display fonts have changed - the fonts for the labels on desktop icons, Explorer window contents and certain other display fonts (text for menu icons in the main window of programs) have suddenly got smaller. For example in this Thunderbird, the font size for the icon labels in the main program window is tiny but the font size for the icon labels in the message window is larger. Altering font size in Display settings does not affect this. My screen resolution on a 15" monitor remains as it was at 1024x768, and I have font size set at 125%.- altering that doesn't change these particular display fonts although it changes others. Is there any way I can get yesterdays settings back? I'm happy to hack the registry but don't know the right key. I have a relevant registry backups from early on the morning of 19th October before I installed the dictionary program (Winrescue 98) for the last couple of days and also a complete image of the C:\ partition (which has my windows installation on it - data and programs are on E - I don't have an up to date image of that). I can restore individual files or folders from the image. Thanks - I had explored that but there seemed to be several items affected, and when I changed individual things, it didn't restore the settings and appearance I had before the installation of that program - but led to further distortion. I've restored the registry using Winrescue98 and things are back to normal - I note that quite a few of the individual settings in Display - Appearance appear to have gone up from a font size of 7 to one of eight for the relevant items. Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I have found Winrescue a lifesaver on many occasions. www.superwin.com -- Rev Robert M Jones, Wimborne Baptist Church, UK http://www.wimborne-baptist.org.uk Free trial of Mailwasher Pro - effective email spam filter - (commission goes to our partners in Bulgaria) http://fta.firetrust.com/index.cgi?id=420 |
