Unfortunately VMM32.VXD is a rather special file and not to be found on the
Win Me CD or anywhere else for that matter, or to be more precise only the stub file will be found on the Win Me CD. The reason being that VMM32.VXD is a monolithic file that was built up from thirty or more other virtual device drivers when the system was first installed with the actual files incorporated in vmm32.vxd depending in part on your hardware and install options. Are you sure that you have "lost" this file? Try booting to DOS and then at the DOS prompt enter DIR C:\VMM32.VXD /S Does this find the file? If yes, is it in your windows\system folder? -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP stirz wrote: I need to find VMM32.VXD as it has been deleted or is corrupted.I would like to install it again.Where can I find it besides on the orginal cd. |

That's good news and to be honest not totally unexpected. From the DIR
listing it looks OK and the chances are that it is undamaged. It might help if you were to post why you are trying to replace this file such as maybe any error messages you see when you try to boot your system. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Rstirz wrote: This is what came up:Volume in drive C has no label Volume Serial Number is 3B6E-1103 Then this came upirectory of C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM VMM32 VXD 1,032,956 04-17-03 9:54a VMM32.VXD 1 files 1,032,956 bytes Total files listed: 1 files 1,032,956 0 dirs 31,711.32 MB free So I guess it is there, how do I check to see if its corrupted or try to reastablish it.thanks |

The reason is my system keeps going into a saft mode and also keeps going into a blue screen saying system is may be busy push any key or restart pc.Plus one of the first times it did this a black screen came up and said VMM32.VXD was lost or corrupted, so I took it to mean that VMM32.VXD was the problem. And I do appricate your time and help MIKE. |

Sorry for not replying earlier, I seem to have overlooked your response.
What changes did you make around the time this problem started (going into Safe Mode)? Did you install some new hardware or update a driver? Did you try using system restore to restore your PC to the state it was in before these problems started? It may though now be too late to use system restore if the problem started more than a week ago. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Rstirz wrote: The reason is my system keeps going into a saft mode and also keeps going into a blue screen saying system is may be busy push any key or restart pc.Plus one of the first times it did this a black screen came up and said VMM32.VXD was lost or corrupted, so I took it to mean that VMM32.VXD was the problem.
