Nah - only two boxes here at the moment (and one of those is dead in the
water )
At one time I did have 4 PC's , but disposed of one, and ditched another.

FWIW, it's not even worth trying VPC on the PII/400, Heirloom! - it takes
about 30 minutes to boot the guest OS and it runs slower than a snail in
heat!
XP Pro will run on the 400 fairly happily - just don't expect any speed out
of it (and it would benefit from upgrading the RAM to the max for the
board - mine takes up to 384MB, and you do notice the difference!)

Thanks, Noel. However, I think I will leave well enough alone for the
moment. I am not a big fan of XP, mainly because I haven't used it
enough......just a little work on me mum's machine and all she uses is
email, Print Shop and games.
Will wait for the next generation to appear.......

That could be a long wait, H - the really big advance that was to come in
Longhorn has been postponed until at least Longhorn SP1 (the filesystem
change).
Still - it should have many advantages over XP when it eventually arrives
(even pre-SP1), including much more secure coding, and an upgraded OE.

You should have time - I reckon it'll be at least 18 months yet.

As for hardware, what is currently a high-spec machine should be able to run
it without any problems - IIRC the target was for something like a 1400MHz
box, with 256MB RAM and 64MB graphics as a minimum spec (which probably
translates to 2GHz, with 512MB RAM and 128MB graphics as being something
that'll run acceptably fast).
I suspect that taking WinFS out of the equation has actually dropped the
processor requirement slightly - but other things may come into play.

LOL

Longhorn currently takes up acres of space and if a user runs it in full
eye candy mode definitely needs a widescreen monitor due to the massive
bar (can't remember the fancy name for it) down the right hand side of the
screen.

As for me I'm sticking with this 19" CRT (in reality probably more like
18") which I run at 1280 x 1024. Whilst I'd like to replace it with a TFT
it won't be until I can afford a 1600 x 1200 20" if not a widescreen 1920
x 1200. Me thinks that is pure wishful thinking but am praying for the
day the moon turns blue (due to all the cheese). :-)

Hang in there, Mike.......someday they will be as cheap as the CRT's are
now. Of course, that will be after the new 3-D holographic monitors are on
the market g.
