Fatal Exception at Shutdown

For about a week now, when I am shutting down I get the 'dreaded blue
screen' which says "Fatal exception in OD has occurred at 179F:00008FB3.
I have to ctrl-alt-delete back into safe mode to shut down. I have not
downloaded anything lately and AdAware and Norton show no no issues. I
literally can't shut down normally anymore. Have to reboot to safe mode
and shut down again.
Please help. This is worrying me.

Definitely, try... "START button, Run, MSConfig, Advanced button".
Check "Disable fast shutdown", if there. The item won't be there, if you
have downloaded a certain patch from Windows Update.
