Problem navigating in the BIOS
The problem started when I entered a user password. Now when I press
delete to enter setup it brings me to the CMOS setup utility where I first have to enter my password, then password entered it goes directly to the "user password" section in the CMOS setup utility. Ever since then I can not toggle left or right at the CMOS setup utility. I can toggle up & down to "save & exit setup" and "exit without saving" along with going back to "user password". I'm having a problem with my Seagate hard drive. I posted this problem before and was told to get the program that checks to see if your hard drive is ok, which I did. The problem there is the program does not recognize that I have a hard drive, so I was going into the bios to see if I could get it to auto detect it. I tried to get it to do it once before with no luck. So basically what I need help with is: 1) How can I get to navigate the CMOS setup utility? 2)How do I get my hard drive into the BIOS if it does not auto detect it? 3) How can I delete the user password so I don't have to use it anymore? I realize this is quite a bit for one post so if I need to separate them please let me know. You guys have been a great help in the past and your expertise is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance as always. Keith |

Problem navigating in the BIOS
Since you never mentioned what motherboard you have or your bios version
there is not much I can help you with. My suggestions is that you contact your MoBo's manufacturer, or visit their site for details, you may want to clear cmos, with the use of jumpers, but like I said contact the manufacturer and you are sure to get the needed help. good luck "Keith" wrote in message ... Problem navigating in the BIOS
Well... you haven't quite stated the BIOS will not auto-detect the HDD,
but only that the utility doesn't see it. Did you get the right one? When you boot a Startup Diskette, does it see the HDD? Get a Startup Diskette from http://www.bootdisk.com/ , if you don't already have one from "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Startup Disk tab". Test the Startup Diskette. Boot it, put in a CD and "DIR" the CD. It will say which letter is the CD. (Otherwise, it is likely one letter higher than normal.) ........Start of..... URLs of Glee.......... Download the diagnostics for your brand hard drive. If you do not know the brand, download Seagate SeaTools. After it is downloaded, double-click it, and it will create a bootable floppy disk with the diagnostic program on it. Then boot your problem computer using the bootable floppy, and choose the Generic long test. It will create a report that you can read from within the program when the tests are complete, and it is also saved as a text file on the floppy disk. Alternately, you can use the evaluation version of Ontrack Data Advisor, which is the same program in its original version. They both are created the same way. Seagate SeaTools: http://download.microshopper.com/har...e/seatoold.exe or http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/B7a.html Error codes: http://www.seagate.com/support/npf/s...ror_index.html Data Advisor: http://www.ontrack.com/freesoftware/#dataadvisor The download link has not been working recently...if it does not connect, use Seagate SeaTools instead. Installation instructions for both: http://www.ontrack.com/dataadvisor/downloadinfo.asp If you DO know the brand, find the diagnostics he Fujitsu http://www.fcpa.fujitsu.com/download...es/#diagnostic IBM and Hitachi http://www.hgst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT Maxtor http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/products/index.htm Seagate http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/index.html Western Digital http://support.wdc.com/download/ or www.westerndigital.com -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm ....glen -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP ............End......of quote......... -- Thanks or Good Luck, There may be humor in this post, and, Naturally, you will not sue, should things get worse after this, PCR "Keith" wrote in message ... | The problem started when I entered a user password.
