Default system restore question

Today, June 4, I have two automatic check points: one at approx 12 pm
for June 3 and one at approx 12 pm for June 4.

There are none for June 1 and 2. And when I try to see the calendar for
the previous month, clicking on that arrow does not bring up the
previous month.

I did the June 4 restore and it worked fine, but my question is, why are
there no automatic check points for June 1 and 2, and why can I not go
back to May?

Thanks

Default system restore question

What did you do with your system on the 3rd? - install a new HD/remove
one? - reset System Restore? - change your partitions? - install the 290700
System Restore patch from Windows Update? - reinstall ME?

There are a number of things that will cause SR to 'forget' its existing
restore points - those above are the most common.

No, I didn't make any changes whatsoever on the 3rd. The reason I did a
restore today was to get rid of a Windows Media Player file I downloaded
in order to see a broadcast.

The only items I add on a regular basis to my hard drive are the
As-Aware update files and all updates from Symantec for my Anti Virus
2002 program. One of the Symantec updates (which I MAY have downloaded
on the 3rd was something called Redirector).

Check the time for the earliest restore point - then do a Search for files
on all drives timed at the same point - see what crops up.

Tracking down an event like this can really be more trouble than it's
worth - because there's nothing you can do about it retrospectively, and the
time can be better-spent elsewhere.

I think I have a suspect. On June 3 I copied the contents of my hardrive
to another harddrive (using Drive2Drive software).
Do you think that might have dropped the restore points?

Yup - that'd kill it, as SR is sensitive to the HD identifier, and will
reset if it senses a new HD (or partition) anywhere on the system.
