How do I hang up while on the net to use the phone for a
minute without disconneting compleatly?

As soon as you hang up, you lose the connection to your (dialup) ISP;
while it may be possible (if you have "call waiting") to make a *quick*
call, that's an issue which you should discuss with your ISP, as it's
dependent on their modem/phoneline configuration.

Now that I think about it, it might be possible for an intelligent
enough modem to blip out of your call and back to the ISP just long
enough to basically say "still here, don't hang up", but I'm not aware
of any software that does that.
