Download, install, update and run HijackThis! from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/
and/or Spybot S&D, also free, from http://majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
or
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10...age&tag=button

......same thing, dl'd, install, update, run. If you still have problems,
post back.

What is the URL of the site you are attempting to access and the URL of the
search site where you end up?

What EXACT URL are you having problems with or do all microsoft.com links
redirect you to searchpage.cc? For example what happens if you try and
download Windows Media Player from the Windows Update site
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com?

Nevertheless you appear to have been hijacked and I'm surprised that you say
that the latest updated versions of neither SpyBot S & D nor AdAware remove
this problem. In which case you might want to try the uninstall routine
supplied by the hijacker - see http://searchpage.cc/uninstall.htm

Best of luck Ron and please post back and let us know how you get on after
uninstalling this BHO (Browser Help Object).

You might also want to grab yourself a copy of BHODemon
(http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm) as this can help identify
and disable unwanted Browser Help Objects.

That's really odd.......HijackThis! should have taken that one out. I did
find that if you use the uninstall procedure, make sure the following
registry entry does not remain or you will be seeing it again......

Delete registry values:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects Select key
{FF1BF4C7-4E08-4A28-A43F-9D60A9F7A880} and delete it

Info came from http://www.2-spyware.com/parasite-searchpage.html
........be sure you have a current backup of the reg before making any
changes.... just in case! Be sure to let us know how you fare.
Heirloom, old and hope you get it
