Windows 98 SE recovery
I have a Dell Dimension 4100 PC with windows 98se
operating system. I have had the PC for just over three years. I have just had to reformat my hard drive, and on trying to reinstall windows 98se from the supplied recovery disc, I find I cannot as some files are missing from the disc. I have contacted Dell but they do not want to know. I have tried to contact Microsoft but my windows 98se ID has 29 digits/spaces and I can only enter 23 before the box stops me from entering any more. Can anyone assist in either how I can recover windows 98se or contact Microsoft for assistance??? |

Windows 98 SE recovery
The key code is in 5 parts and has 5 digets in each.
If you formatted the HD you can not recover, but at the point where you are at you might be able to get the code using your floppy start up disk not sure though. I would try to get Ron Badour to help with this. This might be worth a try. At the A: prompt, type: C:\Windows\Command\Find /N "ProductKey" C:\Windows\System.dat (Note: ProductKey must be typed in upper and lower case letters as shown and there is a space after: "Find" after: "/N" and after: "ProductKey" -----Original Message----- I wish i could help but my problem is a little different I misplaced my operational systems backup disc -----Original Message----- I have a Dell Dimension 4100 PC with windows 98se operating system. Windows 98 SE recovery
I have done the procedure on Dells dozens of times; however, you do not
provide enough details for me to figure out what is going wrong. Follow the instructions here and if you still have problems, post back with specific details: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "des" wrote in message ... Windows 98 SE recovery
Hi,
Your best option is to use a non-recover disk. Use a normall installion disk and itstall a fresh copy of windows. Recover disks are useless! If you would like further assistance please don't hesitate to email me ), even if it's as simple as 'step by step' instructions.
