Well I got a new hd, to be a slave, and xp from a

friend.
Not sure what one it is. Ok, I tried setting up the

hd,
set it to slave specs from manufac. website, now I got

a
missing operating system error, and bios does not
recognise it... Please help?

Ok, well I can still fix it rite?

Also If the computer crashes, it wont recognise the slave
hd, unless I unplug the power from it then plug it back
in and reboot?

Windows will report partitions not disks, so I would say

that you have
created a 30Gb partition on a 60Gb disk.

Do FDISK /Status in a DOS window to see the disk and

partition information.

tnx got it working, now one more thing. Its a 60 gb

hd,
but when I got to wondows it says that its only a 30 gb
drive.. Do you have any idea?
-----Original Message-----
If this is the cause of the problem, then you need to

set
the original disk
jumpers according to the manufacturer's instructions

for
a master with
slave. Without knowing what these are, it's not

possible
to be precise.
Some disk have a special setting for 'master with

slave',
others use the
same setting for 'master' and 'master with slave'.

Ok, so I need to have my master also set to master,

cause
there are no jumper covers in the select for master

or
slave, its just the pins..

What do you mean by 'fix'? What partitioning do you want?

Your computer should not crash. Before worrying about why the disk is not
being recognised, you should fix the crashing problem. The reboot problem
might then disappear.
