Could everyone get back in their own thread and out of mine(original
"Repeated unsolicited connections to internet)? Mine is the one not involving the long discussion on DUN, but does probably involve installation of an HP printer. Have currently uninstalled the printer to see what happens. On Tue, 17 Aug 2004 02:00:07 GMT, (Steve Hayes) wrotg: On Mon, 16 Aug 2004 00:28:45 -0400, Andrew H. scribbled some thoughts: Nothing at all. That said, it has currently disappeared. It may be coincidence, but it is since I uninstalled my HP printer Twas probably a bad installation then. Might try reinstalling it. -- Sincerely, | (©) (©) | ------ooo--(_)--ooo------ Andrew H. Carter | /// \\\ d(-_-)b | |

Hi, Ron,
Turned out not to be the HP printer. I completely uninstalled it, including the parts left behind by the uninstall programme, and cleaned the registry with no success (unless there are still parts lurking somewhere) What is happening now is that the computer dials out at 60 min intervals starting from each boot (ie no specific time of day, so not a scheduled task) and there are 3 things blocked in the ZA log, 2 as FWROUTE and 1 as FWOUT. Have now sent a HijackThis log to the aumha people. Well, it wasn't the printer. I uninstalled it and it made no difference. Neither has anything else I've tried since - uninstalled RealPlayer and lots of other things. |
