Interested in knowing how I could arrange a few icons on the desktop besides
in the regular left view.

For instance, these days there is so many different programs to run for
spyware, virus, spy, adware and on on .... in XP I know that you have a
hidden bar that once you move over displays a few options.

However, I would like to display an area on the desktop on the opposite side
to remind me of the chores of using internet.

Any ideas? Thanks

Right-click on Desktop, select 'Arrange Icons By ' and uncheck
'Autoarrange', then drag whichever icons you want, to arrange them wherever
you want.

They *should* stick wherever you leave them.

Yup ... although their all over the place. Cannot seem to align them.

Is there an option for an additional task bar similar to XP. Where the icons
are located on a side bar?

I'm not actually running WinMe here, but there is an option in XP to 'Align
to Grid' and am fairly sure that there is an 'equivalent' in WinMe which
will let you 'line-up' the icons so that they look tidy(er). Not quite sure
what you mean about "the icons are located on a side bar?"

Mart,

Regrettably Win Me does not have an equivalent to XP's "Align to Grid".
All it offers is to Auto Arrange in various icon orders (Name, Type, Size
or Date).

As top the side bar, I think that Sean is referring to creating a new
Toolbar and dragging it to the side of the screen. This can be done in
both Win Me and XP. The easiest way being to create a folder containing
the required files/shortcuts and then either dragging it to the side of
the screen or better using Toolbars | New Toolbar (Right click on blank
area of toolbar).

OT Shame you don't have XP Pro running on your PC otherwise you could have
a copy of Win Me available in a Virtual PC. :-(

Cheers Mike - yes, I did wonder. Also, I did suspect Sean *may* have been
referring to dragging the toolbar around the screen.

Still working on that in Home Mike, also may use the opportunity to re-jig a
WinMe box - So much else to re-load back up again since the xmas episode
:-))

Touch of the 25/8's again g
