Default upgrading to windows98SE

Could anyone tell me what I need to do if I have a windows
98 and want to upgrade to windows 98SE and I have it on a
disk. I just want to make sure that I will not lose
anything that I have on my computer now. Does anyone know
if it erases everything and starts all over or how does it
work if you upgrade?
Thanks

Assuming you have a retail upgrade or full version, it will just upgrade
your existing installation.
No files or installed application (that are not a part of the operating
system) will be affected.

You should still have backups of important data just in case.

If you have an OEM version then it was designed for a clean install and may
not let you upgrade.

Note:

Make sure you have your install media for both win98 and win98SE (you will
not need win98 for upgrade but may need it in the future)
Make sure you have your product key for both win98 and win98SE (You will not
need the win98 product key for upgrade but may need it in the future)
Make sure you make a boot disk during install
