Default failed setup with windows xp pro

tried to upgrade from win 98 to windows pro but after
running the 1st step of setup, I found out that I didnt
have enough space on my laptop. nOW, evertime I turn on my
computer, there always an option wether I want to boot win
98 or continue setup of win pro. How can I get back to my
previous settings and recovering "lost memory" from the
setup files installed on my harddisk (amounting to about
700 megabytes)? Help!!!
