Default no sound...Windows ME

I just installed Windows ME and now I have no sound.
I checked the drivers, and it said they are loaded
and working.
Any suggestions?

OK, chances are that the soundcard needs re-installing.

Boot into Safe Mode (Press and hold the Shift key from a COLD boot - i.e a
power switch-on) Cancel the Help Centre.
Right-Click the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties and
choose Device Manager.

Look for ALL occurrences of Sound Cards (including games controllers) and
'Remove' them all in Device Manager.

Shut down and re-boot (cold boot) your computer into Normal Mode (boot
normally) and WinMe should re-detect your sound card and attempt to install
the correct drivers.

N.B Ensure that you have the latest WinMe drivers for your card - check the
card manufactures web site and download them if necessary - direct the setup
wizard to the location of the 'new drivers'

All being well you should have your sound back again. If not come back and
somebody will try to help you further.
