slow running
pc hast been running slowly and unable to keep up with
typing etc... so that it seems to stall for a few seconds before catching up. Thought it was a ram (64Mb)or swap file problem. Have upgraded ram with a 256Mb sdram module, sacrificing one of the 32Mb modules to upgrade. Swap file is set to windows controlled, but the problem persists. Any ideas? |

Click StartRun, type MSINFO32 and click OK.
In the left pane of the System Information window, click the + sign to expand the "Software Environment" category. In the left pane, click to select "Startup Programs"....they will appear in a list on the right. Press Ctrl-A on the keyboard, which will highlight everything in the list on the right. Press Ctrl-C to copy the list to the 'clipboard'. Open a reply to this message, click in the body of the message and press Ctrl-V to paste the list from the clipboard to the message, and post back to this thread. Also, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager and post back with what is listed there when you experience the slowdown. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm " wrote in message ... pc hast been running slowly and unable to keep up with typing etc... so that it seems to stall for a few seconds before catching up. Weather Registry (Per-User Run) C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS\WEATHERBUG\WEATHER.EXE 1
See he http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/w/weathercast.asp and http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/a...athercast.html AccessRampMonitor Registry (Machine Run) C:\PROGRA~1\MINDSP~1\AccessRamp\ARMon32.exe See here to disable....it is not needed: http://www.windowsstartup.com/wso/detail.php?id=63 wcmdmgr Registry (Machine Run) C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch It is the Wild Tangent Updater....see he http://www.windowsstartup.com/wso/br...rt=100&end=125 It should be disabled in Control Panel Wild Tangent, or if you do not play Wild Tangent games, it should be uninstalled in Add\Remove Programs. If you still have the problem after dealing with these and rebooting, I suggest this procedu Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan. Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip In addition, install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it finds. Ad-Awa http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ Install, update and run SpyBot Search & Destroy, scan your system, and then remove the items in RED only. SpyBot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download Download, unzip, and run Hijack This from one of these locations: http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...HijackThis.exe Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, save the log somewhere you can find it (Desktop, My Documents, or similar). Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet. Copy the log files and paste them into a new post at one of these forums: http://forum.aumha.org/ http://forums.net-integration.net/ http://computercops.biz/forums.html http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showforum=30 http://tomcoyote.org/forums/ http://www.lavasoftsupport.com http://boards.cexx.org/ The folks there will tell you what to remove.
