HOME PAGE

I am using Win 98 SE. I have run SpyBot several times to get rid of the
many unwanted programs and yet there is something that I can´t get rid of:
it keeps changing my HOME PAGE to "about blank" almost immediately after
re-typing in and hitting Apply.

How do I find the problem that is causing this?

Any help will be gratefully recieved.

It sounds like you have the CoolWebSearch variant CWS.AboutBlank:

Download, unzip, and run Hijack This from one of these locations:

Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the Temp folder, double-click
HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Press that, save the log somewhere you can find it (Desktop, My Documents, or
similar).
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Copy the log files and paste them into a new post at one of these forums:

Thanks for the promt reply. I downloaded the Hijack program and ran it like
you said. After I went to two or three of the web sites to relay the
results to the forum so I would know which ones to delete. The problem is
they only allow 255 characters in the message box and there are many more
than that in the results I received from the scan.
Is there somewhere else I can send the results to?
On clicking on each one of the results and going to INFO, it seems that most
should be eliminated.

"Fix" the entries mentioned in that link, if they appear in your Hijack This log,
and run CWShredder.
