Default Is there a way to make Firefox to NEVER use Offline Mode

I have Firefox 3.6.15 installed in Win98 with Kernal-ex
This is the last version that works in 98.

It works fine, when it's working. However, there was a known bug in
FF3, that made it constantly go into "offline mode". It does this by
itself. I'll be using it, and then close it. The next time I open it, I
get the message saying FF is in offline mode. At least once a day
(often more), I have to reset that goddamn thing. I'm so sick of this
annoyance, that I began trying other browsers. However, there really is
not much else to choose from for Win98.

Is there any way to completely disable offline mode? I have no need for
it. I've never used it or even wanted to use it. I just want it
disabled entirely. Anyone know how?

By the way, has this bug continued on into newer versions of FF?

Mine says 3.6.24
I think there's up to 3.6.29 available.

In the address bar, type about:config and hit enter.

You may get a warning message about how might ruin your system,
trigger another ice age, or cause the Earth to crash into the sun.
Go ahead and accept the warning.

Right-click somewhere on the new page (with all the funny-looking entries)
so you get a little menu (should start with "Toggle"), and pick New Boolean.

In the field "Enter the preference name", type network.manage-offline-status
(make sure the dots and dashes are in the right places).

In the next box "Enter boolean value", choose False and click OK.

That's it.
Close and reopen FF, and see how things go.
