Default Win98 and XP Network Problem

Originally I set up a network between a windows 98SE and XP computer using
Simple File Sharing and could read/write files from each computer to the
other. I use the Network Setup Wizard on the XP and its created floppy on
the 98SE successfully after some effort (don't remember exactly what I had
to do on the 98SE).

Unfortunately, an unrelated problem on the XP caused me to use a backup
clone of the XP operating system. I have been unable to restore a
completely working network since.

Both computers are connected from network interfaces through ethernet
connections to a SDL modem/router.
Both computers are connected to the Internet and both work with it fine.
Both computers have shared folders defined.
Both computers "see" the network (folder icons appear in each computer
Network/Network places).
Both computers are named (98se is "Dell" and XP is "Blackbox") with no
spaces in the names.
Both computers are on a network called "Home".
I can ping from either computer by name or IP address to the other computer.
I have turned off and disabled both file walls.

I am able to share 98SE files and folders with the XP (both read and write)
and have setup mapped drives for the shared 98SE folders. I can NOT read or
write to shard files on the XP from the 98SE. Both computers show shared
folders under their respective network screens.

When I attempt to read or map a shared XP folder on the 98SE, I get an error
message. The message reads: Blackbox\sharedfolder name is not available.
There is not enough memory to complete this task. Close some other
programs.

I have tried many, many different things but nothing works. I have used a
user name/password on both machines but that did not help. I have use a
primary logon for the 98se of client for microsoft networks but it did not
help.

Somebody must have had this type of network problem before and found a
solution. Please help. I have run out of things to try and have little
network experience.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help!
