Final Solution to FireFox 3.6 and "Check Your Plugins" Problem
Hi,
Ever since I installed AR6 (Adobe Reader V6), when I launch FF3.6, most of the time it automatically goes to Mozilla's "Check Your Plugins" page. This never happened before. Note: I have all automatic updates unchecked in FF, and FF launches to "Show a Blank Page" ("General" options) . Note: Above is part of an old post I made in this NG. The "final solution" to the problem has to do with setting the attribute for "PREFS.JS" to Read Only (prevents it being changed). The location of this file is: C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.Default Note: "xxxxxxxx" represents a unique folder name each computer will receive by FireFox when installed. After I entered "xxxxxxxx.Default" folder using Dos Prompt, I typed the command (without quotes) "ATTRIB +R PREFS.JS" to set a Read Only attribute for "PREFS.JS" so no changes in that file can occur. I did this about 3 or 4 months ago and I have never had that problem again. John |
