Default *** HELP ***: c:\windows\system folder got damaged

I would buy a new hard disk, install it while taking out the old, reload

your system
then install the old and attempt to copy the files from it. Try many

times, sometimes
disks fail in soft ways that repetition can overcome.

HELP !!! (sorry voor NL lezers, dit is een
muliti-post)

Because of a hard disk failure the c:\windows\system folder got damaged.
Window no longer boots and reports 'Abort Retry Fail', retries wont

help.
Scandisk wasn't able to fix it (I consider 'convert to files' no valid
option).
Booting from floppy, then 'win.com' fails at same spot.

It is VERY IMPORTANT and VERY URGENT to:
1. Recover the system folder including contents (as much as possible)
or if that is impossible
2. Recover as many files as possible and possibly reconstruct system

folder

Reformating is NOT an option here !
Any help is highly appreciated !!!

John7

I know this is an old post, but, sounds like the drive works, try
re-installing windows over itself.Might get you 1 shot to copy the
data......and THIS is why we backup
