Ctrl - Alt - Delete, lexplorer listed twice
Iexploer shows up twice in the "end task list when I press
Ctrl - Alt - Delete. If by chance I get it to go away, It comes back. I have tried to "Disk Cleanup", then tried to run "Scan Disk" with and without "auto fix errors" but I get the "10 times tried" message. I did "Ctrl - Alt - Delete" to stop all the other programs and still can not get "Scan disk" or "Disk Defragmenter" to run out. I am running "Windows98 SE". I ran Norton AntiVirus a few times with no problems found. Whats next? |

Your post shows up twice also ;-)
For the Scandisk problem, try running it from Safe Mode, or better yet, have a look here, by MS MVP Ron Badour: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/scandisk.html and http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/defrag.html Here is a little utility to automate it for you: GEODisk by MS MVP George Gedye http://mvps.org/PracticallyNerded/Software.htm For the iexplore (Internet Explorer) problem of appearing twice, first try running a repair on Internet Explorer: Click StartRun, type the following and click Enter, for IE5x: RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE5Maintenance or this, if you have IE6x installed: RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE6Maintenance Choose the Repair option, and continue. If the repair says it cannot complete, or it does not fix the problem, reinstall Internet Explorer: Recovering From a Failed Internet Explorer Upgrade in Windows 98: http://tinyurl.com/r5ba Also, and probably should be done FIRST: Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan. Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip In addition, install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it finds. Ad-Awa http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ Install, update and run SpyBot Search & Destroy, scan your system, and then remove the items in RED only.
