Default Installing in Compaq LTE 5400

I understand that windows 95 was a long time ago but would there be someone
out there willing to help me through installing windows 95 on an old Compaq
LTS 5400 laptop?

Most Compaqs of that era, and laptops in general, usually require the
original installation media in order to be successful. You can *try* using
generic installation media, but success is not guaranteed. That said, this
document suggests that generic media will work.

Note that Win98/98SE is supported. Why not use that instead?

In any case, you should first go download most if not all of what's found
here and store them on CDs. http://tinyurl.com/yanmrh (For Win95. Other OSes
are found he http://tinyurl.com/yanmrh

Laptops also often don't come with floppy drives, only CD drives, or if they
have both, only one can be plugged in at once. This means either that you do
the entire installation using floppies or using a bootable CD, not both.
What's your configuration? What kind of media do you have?

More info in general would help. What's the history? What kind(s) of disks
do you have on hand?
