Default windows98 update

i have downloaded and install all the windows98 update.
and divce driver also when i shut down and restart the
computer my NIC is not working i try to install the
original driver for that still it dosn't like to work. i
am using compaq despro sb and my nic is intel 82255base
810 ethernet adapter (10/100). can someone help me to
uninstall the driver.

Never take the drivers got by clicking for them in the left pane at
Windows Update. Those are poison to me & others. If you absolutely,
positively cannot resist, then...

"START button, Run, MSInfo32, Tools menu, Update Wizard Uninstall"

....may rescue you, with luck. If you cannot boot to Windows Normal Mode,
then try it in Safe Mode. (Hold F5 or CTRL as you boot.)

First off what does it show in Device Manager for the NIC? Is it =
present and/or are there any conflicts? If I believe correctly that is =
an onboard integrated chip and you can get the drivers from either the =
manufacturer of your machine or Intels site.
