On exit, IE says "general protection fault..."
IE appears to work but every time I close it, it says:
IEXPLORE caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at 0004:00000499 I usually don't use IE anyway except when necessary like to use the Windows Update. When I use aol instant messanger, the protection fault error pops up as if I had just exited IE even though I never saw it open. |

Select "Microsoft Internet Explorer" from the list. (Note : The wording may vary. Mine, for example, says, "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools" - yours may be slightly different. Do NOT choose any entry starting with just "Internet Explorer..." ; these are usually patches or updates) Click on 'Add/Remove'. Select 'Repair Internet Explorer' and click on 'OK'. Let it run the repair and then reboot when prompted. HTH -- Regards Nigel Stapley www.judgemental.plus.com reply-to will bounce |

Should be. It may not be in MSINFO32 Tools menu, but every IE from IE5.0
beta on, when in installed in Windows 98 (FE), adds itself to the Add/Remove Programs list, and Repair has (I think), always been an option when accessing IE Setup from that list. (Can't recall, actually, if Repair was an option in the earliest iterations.) If you're using Windows 98 SE, and haven't updated IE, then no, it won't be in Add/Remove--but it *will* be in MSINFO32. In either case, at this juncture it is fair to expect that any Windows user has at least once updated IE. -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP Shell/User "budgie" wrote in message ...
